JCT’s Metal Alloys Lab can Certify Alloy Chemistry to any Industry Standard
The Johnson Centrifugal Technology metal alloys laboratory has a wide array of equipment to ensure quality metal alloy chemistries, test for strength, and view grain structure.
JCT recently purchased a new SPECTROMAXx Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES). This metal analyzer can be used to test any copper, aluminum, steel, or nickel-based alloys with high precision and accuracy. At JCT, we can certify the chemistry of our alloys to any industry standards, ASTM, Aluminum Association, military, etc. We can also custom make any alloy to fit your needs.
The JCT laboratory has the capability to perform tensile testing. This test measures the material for strength, yield, and ductility. Tensile testing is performed on material that will be used under stress/strain to ensure it will be able to withstand the force being applied to it.
Our laboratory has the ability to age harden, anneal, and stress relieve many alloys in house using our oven. JCT has a Class 2 certified oven capable of temperatures up to 1250°F±10°. This results in quicker turn around and delivery of castings.
JCT lab can perform microstructural analysis as well. This is a magnified view of the material where we can gain insight into the quality of the material’s grain structure.
With all these valuable resources, JCT is able to design and tweak custom alloys and test material for alloy appropriate properties.
